Four Eyes Revival

It’s been almost five years since I’ve told the story of Poly and Tam, and I got back to it while in a year long art retreat here in the forest in Fairfax. It’s been a period of growth and exploration, while I really built up the style and worked with new technology for painting. I had completely forgotten about four eyes, originally a punk zine series for independent comic shops in the East Bay.

I’ve really left that time behind so it was really interesting to pick it back up for so long. It wasn’t a perfect story, it was the beginning after studying scriptwriting in a local community college, BCC, while I worked through everything. I’m going back and making edits and exploring a new intersection of graffiti art, zen painting and impressionism, and I intend to work on it off and on for my art career. I love this work and it really captures our time well in the East Bay, in a completely urban environment that seems so far away right now. I’ll be updating from time to time this story, and it’s available currently on a webcomic site called Tapas. It’s where I post drafts until I finish up the work and release on ComiXology on Amazon.

I may print some at another time but I’m not currently posting other than the web. So I hope you’ll join in on the adventure as I look continuously into these drawings and illustrations I worked for so long on. I’m growing and so is the comic, it’s changing more and more as I work on it. It’ll be fun and interesting, and a look at the constructs of mythology, and if you’ve read the first drafts of line work in the zine series, you’ll still be surprised at where this is going. It’s a deep work, and I’m changing things as I go, now that I have such different perspectives. Hope you enjoy!

The Complete Four Eyes Graphic Novel

Four Eyes follows the adventures of Polly and Tam, a young couple living in a small college town who are just like everyone else, except that one of them is a cyclops and one of them has an awakened third eye. Over a six zine mini series, collected here, they throw boulders, act as botanists, levitate objects, ride donkeys, and discover the world of the Cyclops Island. But a mysterious individual seems to be just a few steps ahead of them at every turn. What will happen?!

Available in Berkeley, CA at Pegasus Books, The Escapist, and Fertile Grounds Cafe. Also available at etsy.

Four Eyes: Episode V

In Episode V we learn the origin of Tam’s third eye, while Polly and her father lead a replanting of the mother iris. Polly concludes her tale about the trip Tam and her took, only to find out a shocking revelation.

Four Eyes: Episode IV

Episode IV finds Tam and Polly continually concealing Tam’s identity as a human. Tam handles sheep and cyclops relations or lack thereof, and finally Polly and Tam work together to find a lost one eyed Iris.

Episode II

Over the last month and a half or so I illustrated the second episode of Four Eyes. It’s a journey to the Cyclops Island to meet Polly’s parents. The story allows for learning more about Polly and the Cyclops, and shows how tight knit and coordinated Polly and Tam could be. This issue is sold exclusively at Pegasus Books.

First week of Four Eyes

The life of an underground comic author is a strange one. You catalog experiences into four or five panel moments in time. You start to see things like they are a cartoon. Maybe they always were or that’s just how you begin to perceive them.

I didn’t anticipate being done with Four Eyes this quickly, or expect that I would be able to get it so quickly into shops. It all came together in the last two weeks, when I rapidly finished the third part of the comic, finishing one day and assembling the pages the next.

This is the first blog post, and I can say that I am excited about four eyes and I can’t wait to begin drawing and planning for the next story. I have four written and only the first has been produced. Looking forward to telling all of these stories in 2017.
